EMPLOYEE SAFETY NET

Building on the strengthened funding position of last year, the Plan has continued to solidify the security and services we’re providing to our members. While 2010 presented some unexpected challenges, we’re focused on building an Employee Safety Net for our members. One of our main goals is to provide support, peace of mind and confidence for Plan members.

Claims in 2010 allowed us to stay in a position of balance. We remain on solid financial ground to provide income protection and wellness services to our more than 13,000 members across Nova Scotia.

This past year marked the checkpoint for evaluating our progress against our organizational vision, which is to be recognized nationally as the best provider of income protection and wellness services by 2010.

We remain steadfastly focused on this goal and continue to ambitiously work toward achieving it by implementing the following changes:

  1. Responsive communications with claimants and members
  2. Strong financial management of the Plan

We’re optimistically progressing along this path. I’m grateful for the strong guidance and support of the Board and staff. This year we welcome Linda Power as incoming chair.

Outlook for 2011

With the Plan in a position of sound financial strength, we’ll continue to evolve our strategies to support the reality that we live in an ever-changing world with an aging population and employees who are remaining in the workforce longer.
I’m thankful for the impact we’re making on behalf of families across Nova Scotia through the confidence offered by the Plan.

This year we’ll be more dedicated than ever to realizing our vision of being the best provider of income protection and wellness services.
